A/C & D/C Motor Recondition & Repair

Not every motor that comes into the shop needs a rewind.   In fact, there are many times when a motor rewind is unnecessary.   Perhaps the armature needs balancing, or the bearings need replacing.   Maybe the winding insulation resistance is low, and needs to be rejuvenated.   Possibly the shaft requires rebuilding to restore a pulley fit.   The list is extensive.

In these instances, you don't need a rewind, you need a recondition or repair.   That is why the skilled technicians at EMS carefully inspect and evaluate every electric motor that is brought in to our service centers, in order to determine exactly what repairs are needed.   A written report is given to the Service Manager, who then submits this information to you.

It may be that your motor does require a rewind.   However, if your motor only needs to be reconditioned or otherwise repaired, we will notify you that this is the case, and you will benefit from the savings.   On D/C armatures, we also carefully inspect the commutator mechanically and electrically, performing bar-to-bar and other testing.   We utilize a lathe to turn and undercut the commutator to provide a smooth surface for the brushes.
